In February, Soroptimist International of La Mesa members voted to donate a total of $4,500 to three organizations that improve the lives of women and girls in different ways.

Rachel's Women's Center in Downtown San Diego. The services provided by Rachel's help women to achieve an improved quality of life, to become healthy, fulfilled and contributing members of the community. SI La Mesa was pleased to contribute $1,000 to help provide lunches to the women served. SI La Mesa has supported Rachel's for several years by providing and serving dinner at the center several times each year.

Home Start has been strengthening families and protecting children in San Diego for 40 years. This year the organization will open a maternity shelter consisting of individual cottages for pregnant and parenting women. SI La Mesa is providing $1,000 funding in the form of Target gift cards, to help equip each unit with necessary items.

Leap to Success, empowers women who have overcome adversity to be leaders in their lives, families and communties.  "Communicate with Confidence" is six-session series designed for women currently living in homeless shelters to help them rebuild confidence and move to the next stage of their lives.SI La Mesa is sponsoring the current class of 30 women with a $2,5000 donation. At the end of the series, club members will host a reception for the women.

We are so proud to be able to support these diverse services and we couldn't do it without our donors. Please consider making a donation so we can continue helping organizations that help women and girls.
